Portland’s Pearl District is a great place for location portraits.  Between the new parks (Jamison and Tanner Springs) and the mix of old and new buildings, there are plenty of interesting locations to photograph.

We photographed Meena, a local physician, in the Pearl, and had a great time walking and talking with her.  Here are a few samples of what we created together….

FritzPhoto-Tarah-enior Portrait Photographer Salem Oregon

Tarah found me and my work online, and loved it enough to drive all the way up to Portland from the Salem area, to photograph her senior portraits.  She has these lovely blue eyes, and we created a beautiful set of images, down on Portland’s waterfront.   I really enjoy working with high school seniors to create their senior portraits.  So much fun energy, and they’re willing to go along with my crazy ideas to create cool photographs!

I’m pleased and honored once again to receive word that I received an award in the International Society of Wedding Photographers Summer Photography Competition.  It’s very competitive, and exceptional wedding photographers from all over the world submit.  I submitted an image in the Bridal Party Portrait category, and placed in the top 10.  Pretty cool.

This image is from Jessie and Sara’s wedding photographs at Youngberg Hill Vineyard, outside of McMinnville, Oregon.  You can view their wedding album here, also featured last year at ISPWP.

Fashion Senior Portrait Photographer Portland Oregon

I’ve been working on a series of portraits of people with freckles (which is another post for another day).  Today I photographed a young lady for this series, and we ended up shooting a little fashion session.  She’s lovely to work with, and we were both quite pleased with the results.  Here are a few samples of the many beautiful images we created.

Billy and Kali have a beautiful 4-month old baby.  She’s cute, and no wonder: she has beautiful parents.  I took them into the lovely late-evening sunlight to photograph some family portraits, at Columbia Park, in North Portland.

Portland Oregon Senior Portrait PhotographerSummer and Fall are portrait season, especially for high school senior portraits, and the phone has been ringing off the hook this past week for portrait photography sessions.  I’m guessing it’s because we just redesigned the portrait section of our website.   People are noticing our reasonable price, which is currently reflecting a $100 discount.  They also notice how artistic and unique my portraits are.  And they’re noticing how simple and clear our portrait package is, because we only have one.

I spent some time this past week researching other senior portrait photographers in Portland, and discovered a wide array of pricing and package information.  The only consistent theme I could find was that they are all complicated! Some have a low introductory price, but require you to purchase several expensive reprint packages.  Others limit you to 2 or 3 ‘poses’ or pieces of clothing.  Some still use the dated ‘units’ system for ordering prints, which is complicated and expensive.

I redesigned our portrait photography package to be the simplest and most complete in the Portland area.  In fact, here it is:

We’re as excited about your portraits as you are. Our award-winning creative portraits are never run-of-the-mill.
Each session is unique, just like you. No complicated packages, no high-pressure sales meetings; we
promise. Just top-notch professional photography, exceptional service, and beautiful memories.

Fritz’s portrait package is simple. Your investment of $250 includes everything:

* A location portrait session, up to 2 hours, anywhere.

* Unlimited clothing changes, props, friends.

* Artistic services and editing of each image.

* A beautifully printed proofbook containing all 30-60 final images, which is yours to keep.

* A web slideshow with music, to share with your friends and family.

* A web gallery for viewing and ordering professional prints.

* A la carte ordering of your favorite photos at affordable prices.

From high school senior portraits, to children and family photos, to engagement portraits, bands and
commissions, Fritz’s portraits are creative, personal, different. Our award-winning portrait sessions are
shot on location: at a local park, your home, a favorite place. High school seniors are welcome to bring a
friend or sibling along. There are no limits to ‘poses’ or clothing changes, no rush, no gimmicks. Fritz
takes his time, working with you to create unique, artistic portraits. Every session is tailored to fit, and the
resulting images are priceless.

There is no extra cost to combine color, black-and-white, and artistic effects in your portraits. We offer a
full line of professional enlargements, custom books, canvas wall prints, posters, greeting cards, and
much more. No minimum purchase requirements, complicated packages, or ‘units’ to deal with. Just
order what you want, when you want.

HAIR AND MAKEUP: Our professional hair and makeup artist will have you looking your best with a
complete hair and makeup session, here in the studio, or in the comfort of your own home. $100

Trash the Dress! This fun phenomenon gets you out of the prim and proper, and into the elements–in
your dress. Beautiful, eclectic, always fun, always unusual. Great for high school seniors, brides, anyone
with a flair for the uncommon. Our Trash the Dress images have been in newspapers and articles, and all
over the web.

FritzPhoto-Skamania Lodge Wedding Photography

Skamania Lodge holds a special place in my life.  Not only is it a beautiful lodge set in my native state of Washington, overlooking the awe-inspiring Columbia River Gorge.  But it is also the place my wife and I spent our wedding night, and it has been the site of several delightful family outings.  (Their restaurant serves exceptional fare.)

So photographing a wedding at Skamania Lodge is a real treat.  Their staff is attentive and friendly, the food is fantastic (you can’t always say this about wedding food…), and the site is stunning.

Megan and Alan had their destination wedding here, and we were privileged with telling their wedding story.  They are a delightful couple, who love to goof around.  Megan is also very organized (she’s a school teacher), and the day was well planned and smooth.  And the design of the reception ballroom was amazing.

You can view more photos on our wedding photography on our website.  We love to tell love stories.

Most people don’t realize that when they hire me as their wedding photographer, I also throw in boutonierre attachment services for free.  I have many years’ experience, and have yet to draw blood.

FritzPhoto-Maternity Portraits Portland

I’m the oldest of 4 children, with three younger sisters.  I’ve always liked having sisters, and, of course, I also liked being the oldest.

For 7 years now, our family has had a sum total of one grandchild, my nephew Ryder.  Well, all of a sudden it’s raining babies.  My two youngest sisters, Beth and Evie, are both pregnant, and their due dates are just a month apart.

They asked me to take some maternity portraits this past week, and I couldn’t refuse.  We went to the beach, right here in Portland (there are several…), and spent some fun time together in the sun.

Here’s to my new nephew and niece!

I have to say, I’ve never photographed a family that had 4 grown daughters, and all of them absolutely beautiful.  But that was the case with Carla’s family.  Must be something in the California water.

She and Phil’s friends and family came together on Saturday to celebrate their marriage–and celebrate they did.  It was a beautiful day for a wedding.  And it was my birthday.  If you have to work on your birthday, you can’t beat taking beautiful photographs of beautiful people.  I came away happy.  And with two bottles of wine as a birthday present, compliments of the groom’s mother.

Phil and Carla and their wedding party and family stayed and prepped at Portland’s Hotel Lucia, and were married at the EcoTrust Building in the Pearl District.  So beautiful!

Some people start their kids reading at a young age. Or counting. Or painting. But this little girl seems set on…gambling!

Photographed at Portland’s Uptown Billiards, which turns out to be a great location for an indoor wedding, this little lady was quite the ham.  She loved the camera.   (Check here out in our PhotoBooth photos from this wedding!)   In addition to the billiards table, the bride and groom had hired a casino games company to come in, and the craps table was in full swing.

I love how the shadows of the dice are falling on her face.   She had a great time.

So did everyone else.  This was taken at Michele and Jerry’s wedding, which was a beautiful occasion.  I love photographing couples who laugh easily and obviously have fun together.

And, as always, there is more to see on our Portland wedding photography website.

We’ve sure been having fun with our PhotoBooth setup at weddings this year, and our customers have too!  We shot a wedding this past weekend, and the Photo Booth was one of the main attractions.  People start out stiff, and loosen up as we fire away.  We even got the servers in on the action (and one of the girls spilled champagne on the other!).

You can see more PhotoBooth images at our wedding photography website, by clicking Weddings | PhotoBooth.  Consider bringing our PhotoBooth (photographer included!) to your wedding, party, or event….

Sometimes small and simple makes for beautiful results.  Rachael and Jonathan’s wedding, at the Marshall House in Vancouver, Washington, sure proved this to be true.  As a wedding photographer, the evening was ideal: beautiful location, beautiful light, and beautiful people.  The results: one of the most beautiful sets of portraits I’ve probably ever created at a wedding.  From the bride and groom, to children, to guests…a gorgeous set of portraits.  With hair and makeup work by AJ’s Hair and Makeup Design, people were ready for photos!

This last image is of my dad telling a joke to the groom’s brother and fiance.  It’s actually pretty good.  The bride had just tossed her bouquet to the single ladies present.  My dad suggested that for the groom, instead of tossing the garter, he should be tossing his address book to all the single men present.

Ah, wedding stories.  We love telling them.  As some of the more experienced Vancouver wedding photographers, we love photographing weddings at Marshall House!
